Please note: The class is $350 total for the fall semester. A $100 deposit is due to hold the class. This is the remaining amount due after the initial deposit. All enrollment payments are non-refundable.
We do not use a textbook in this course that weaves literature and history into weekly study. Instead, we use books, classical learning skills, good conversations and cups of tea as we navigate the great tale of Western Civilization.
For this class, students collect events and names for their timeline book, they record commonplace quotes, they read poems, they read literature and write responsive narrations. Each semester, they research, arrange, create and present a special history paper and project. All of these endeavors will mirror the years covered in Cycle B for the high school Ideaon seminar. Please note that parent involvement will be necessary to complete assignments at home. While I will provide assignment assessment and completion records, along with a quantitative mark for class participation, parents will be providing their child’s final grade.
Starting in the fall semester of 2026, stories and studies will span the time period of 500-1750 AD. The Roman Empire will fall, the Vikings will raid, the Medieval kingdoms will rise. We will learn of the Renaissance and Enlightenment.
While a list with specific books and supplies will be available in the summer, anticipate that we do read fact and fiction, fairytale and fable, prose and poetry, legends and lyrics.
Finally, if you register for this class, please note that the deposit is not refundable. This class will close when the seats are filled (which happened this past year:)
Onward and upward!
